Company Profile :

FF-STEEL (Frontier Foundry (Pvt) Ltd.) is currently the largest and fastest re-rolling mill in Pakistan in terms of production capacity and rolling speed. The company has since its inception in 1986 excelled exceptionally in manufacturing of different steel products. We take pride not only in our technical superiority over other re-rolling mills but also in our corporate setup. Our diverse product line is key to success; and it is this diverse product lines which has lead to departmentalization and the corporate setup the company has over the past 20 years increased its productions form a mere 3600 tons per annum in 1988 to a humongous 120000 tons per annum in 2007.

FF-STEEL was incorporated in 1986 and setup a two 2.2 tons main frequency induction furnaces and an 8 inch manual steel re-rolling mills with a capacity of 3600 tons per annum and started commercial production of steel bars and steel ingots in June 1988. Just after 4 year of its commercial production, FF-STEEL started working on its product diversification. This led an expansion in 1992, after which the company had the capability of production angle iron and T-iron. In 1995, the company carried out a BMR and also setup a 10 inch roughing stand. This increased our production by 30%.

In 2001, the company being pushed by a highly capable technical team decided to reach the excellence of re-rolling by manufacturing 5.5 mm wire rod, which is the smallest size of wire rod any re-rolling mill can make using hot rolling; thus work started on fully automatic state of the re-rolling mill. In 2002, FF-STEEL successfully produced its first batch of wire-rod. Again pushed towards product diversification, FF-STEEL was revamped in 2004 to be able to produce bailing hoops; a product used by ginning companies to warp cotton bales.

In 2006, after the devastating earth-quake of October 2005, FF-STEEL took on itself to provide the nation with quality steel bars. With the goal to produce grade 60 and grad 75 steel bars, FF-STEEL installed a 195 feet long walking beam cooling bed. this is currently the largest cooling bed in Pakistan .it was only in the midst of latest installation that the catastrophic earthquake of October 8 took place. It was at this point that our technical consultants realized that Thermo-Mechanically-Treated Steel (TMT Steel or Quenched & Tempered Steel) is need of the hour in Pakistan .TMT Steel was being abundantly produced and used in other countries; however no steel unit in Pakistan had sought to take this bold step.

In April 2007 the first success trial runs of TMT Steel as well Grade 60 and Grade 75 Steel bars took place at FF-STEEL, entitling FF-STEEL to claim to be the first re-rolling mill in Pakistan to successful roll and produce TMT Steel Bars. In may 2007, the company became the first steel mill in Pakistan to produce steel bars as per ASTM 706 (weldable steel).

Currently FF-STEEL has a very diverse product port-folio consisting of 4 major products; namely wire-rod, baling hoops, deformed steel bars (Grade 60) and Thermo-Mechanically-Treated (TMT) steel bars. To ensure the production of quality products, all raw material (billets) are exclusively imported or purchased from Pakistan Steel Mill (PSM). For quality assurance, the mill report of each billet lot from Pakistan Steel Mill is demanded and verified. Furthermore to keep high level of quality of its products, FF-STEEL has established an in-house Material Testing Laboratory. All materials produced are regularly checked in our laboratory. To show our dedication towards quality products, FF-STEEL has recently acquired ISO-9001:2000 certification.

FF-STEEL is most proud of its setup as an institution rather than it being dependent on individuals. The fact that two of our production managers got National Awards from President of Pakistan Mr. Pervez Musharaf and Prime Minister Mr. Shaukat Aziz in the years 2001 and 2007 respectively is witness to our establishment as an institution. Being revolved as an institution and a company of national level, FF-STEEL recognize its corporate social responsibilities. FF-STEEL has and will always do whatever is possible within its reach to help the society. During the October 8 2005 earthquake, Chief Executive of FF-STEEL, Mr. Nauman Wazir, personally led a team of employees to help the quake-struck people of Thakot and Allai Valley.
